FAQ - LIME

FAQ for LIME:

1. Can I apply for more than one category?

Yes, you may apply for more than one category provided that the regulations of each competition are met.

2. What do I need to register?

You need to complete an application form (available in the syllabus) for each competition that you wish to enter – the application form can be copied as many times as you need (please see the syllabus for closing dates of application).  Then the Eisteddfod selects competitors from the received applications.

3. Who is eligible to enter?

Anyone who does not make his or her main income from the performance of music or dance is eligible to apply as a possible competitor (this restriction does not apply to conductors, dance leaders or accompanists - these leaders may be full-time professionals in their respective fields).  Regulations for the individual competitions must of course be noted.

4. Can I stay in the UK a bit longer?

You may stay in the UK for longer than the Eisteddfod, provided that any travel / Visa regulations allow; advice can be given by the Eisteddfod Office, though generally the Eisteddfod does not give provide specific assistance with the booking of further accommodation elsewhere in the UK.

5. Will you help me obtain a visa?

The Eisteddfod gives the UK Visa Authority the details of competitor-groups and soloists once they have been accepted, recommending the group or soloist to UK Visas, and then liaises with competitors as they apply for Visas and any other necessary documents.  However, the Eisteddfod cannot make a Visa application on behalf of a competitor or competitor-group; this must be done by the competitors themselves.  Nor can the Eisteddfod guarantee that any visa application will necessarily be successful.

6. Do I need to be able to speak English?

You do not need to be able to speak English (or Welsh!), though many competitors bring English-speaking guides with them.

7. Where can I get help if I have more questions?

For English, you can visit http://www.international-eisteddfod.co.uk/index.asp.  For Chinese questions, please contact info@chinesemusic.co.uk
